Eastwood signed for the Brisbane Broncos as a schoolboy, and previously played for the Manurewa Marlins in South Auckland, New Zealand.
In 2007's ANZAC Test Eastwood made his international début for New Zealand from the bench.
Eastwood was a member of the 2008 World Cup-winning New Zealand team and played in all of their matches, including the final win against Australia.
After three seasons in Brisbane, Eastwood signed with Leeds Rhinos for the 2009 season, however his visa to play in the United Kingdom was denied.[3] While his visa was being appealed The New Zealand Warriors and Bulldogs, along with several other NRL clubs, expressed interest in signing him.[4][5] Eastwood signed for the Bulldogs on loan for 2009 and played the season for them.
Eastwood made his debut for the Bulldogs in the round 2 clash on 21 March 2009 against the Penrith Panthers. The Bulldogs won the match 28–26, with Eastwood scoring a try.[6]
Leeds successfully appealed the decision and Eastwood joined the Rhinos for the 2010 season.[7] After a disjointed start to his Leeds career, he made a successful return to the Yorkshire outfit after a lengthy lay-off through injury in the 70-22 victory over the Blackpool Panthers in the 5th round of the 2010 Challenge Cup
Eastwood announced his intentions to leave the Rhinos at the end of the 2010 Super League season on 29 July 2010, stating that he was seeking a return to the NRL for the 2011 season and confirming the reason behind the decision was that he had struggled to settle in the UK.[8] It was first announced in early August through online e-magazine "Bulldogs Blue 'n' White e-magazine" that he would be returning to the Bulldogs in season 2011[9][10]
